16 in five evening to midnightish sessions. But all around one pound or less. Was going to go tonight but I can't face more miniscule snigs. :laughs:

Have heard of a four and a five from another local water - both in daylight during the hot spell.

3 eels in 11 nights, pulled out of one that felt good the other night. Currently doing my 12th night so that figure might have changed by the morning.

I've had a few more little ones (four last time out) and have given up for now. I might have another few bashes later this month and into September.

It's gone slower on my current water, but I'm sticking at it until pike time starts

I don't really fish for eels, I just fish for anything that comes along really, but I have had 3 I think now this year in broad day light around the 2lb mark on bacon grill, has anyone else used bacon grill, I don't think it is one of the usual eel baits.
Nothing wrong with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Its everyone else.

When I fished the Ribble in the 90s luncheon meat was the bait. As soon as it went dark it was eels all the way!

years back probably 40 years come to think of it , had a run on a gudgeon on the ribble it went upstream then down stream the power was immense still dont know what it was to this day , had a wire trace on and fifteen pound line .....in the end a big tree stopped me and it snapped me off as it was going to spool me so had to tighten up to get line back

that fish has never left my memory ............

the bailiff watched me play this fish and recons it was a very big salmon ..
at the time i was fishing for eels .

Could have been a big salmon.

As an aside, you've reminded me that back to the 70s there were some monster gudgeon in the Ribble.

Hook in the mouth photo? Social media is awash with close ups of lures in the mouths of Chub, Pike or Perch. And Perch and Pike with flys looking sexy in a fishes trap.

Perhaps this daft thing is catching on with Eel guys?

I don't know, I think it's more to show that lip hooking is possible, here's another for you to enjoy 😁

That's how most of my bootlaces have been hooked this year. Only a couple have taken it inside the mouth out of 20 or so. Why did we use long hooklinks all those years?

I was advised that using fish baits needed a long trace in case a pike picked up your bait.
