Hammy..... brilliant. LONG LIVE THE POOL.

Took me back to an old quarry I used to fish with the same expectations as you. Had great access and ended up with a few equally stunning fish albeit nowhere near that size.

Went back there last week with our PAC region, snagged a fish and remembered the thrill of watching them fight in clear water.

Image

There was a water near by that had the access issues you had and first time I snuck on there I snagged a huge carp and went on to catch a load of huge carp from there to the point that it ruined my carp fishing forever and I could never go back to fishing for them like the rest of the prowls do.

Loved that mate, really loved it.

Thanks again to everyone for the kind words. I wondered whether or not an anecdotal piece might appeal to people so it is great to know a few have enjoyed it.

Nice picture Steve. The clarity of the water in these places really makes for some stunning fish.

Thanks Lewis, but honestly, I don't believe you could be more mistaken. Your 'Inexperienced' article was among the best written pieces we've had on the Pool IMO. (The bloody font could have done with a bit of a watering though. Image !) You hinted at the end of your article that you had another one in the bank. Come on, let's be avin it. Image

For every punter that enjoyed my latest piece I can guarantee you there will be just as many that didn't. What constitutes a decent read is something that is truly in the eye of the individual beholder. That's the fantastic thing about writing, the subject matter and the different styles of writing are infinite. The whole ethos of the Pool was to give the average bloke a chance to tell his story.

...take that man's name Stew! Image

Class read Chris. I think most of us have our own 'hidden pit' somewhere tucked away. I know I have one or two and your writing reflects just how special they are.

Thanks for the article Chris. The build up description to your 25 plus, made the article that bit special. Best I've read for some time now.
