e-replacement parts

My Shimano Calais was sounding like a coffee grinder, sent it to Felindre, they replaced bearings,
After a couple of days noise started again. I decided to have a look, found main shaft bearing rusty and stuck
In housing, plastic gears worn and cast release gear worn to excess. Contacted Felindre some parts are not
Available and have been discontinued.

Not wanting to throw a good reel away I found this company in Utah who keep loads of spares for almost
Anything now my Calais is smooth as silk again although I have another Abu now for the bigger lures.

I wouldn't use Felindre again other than to supply parts and fit myself. On taking my reel apart I could see they hadn't serviced it as they said as it was full of dirt and everything was covered in power pro dust.
Lesson learnt.

This was the inside. As they serviced it at the same time I would have expected a full clean inside before
Regrease and oil

If it wasn't as noisy after they sent it back I wouldn't doubt their work.
(They did return the old bearings)
It was clear some components were worn to excess and they could have advised me even though the parts were not available in the uk but nothing was said. They didn't even say sorry

Whilst I love my Shimmy bait runners, I'll stick to ABU for multipliers. I have nine in different sizes and styles and they've never let me down

I now have 6 Abu's and likewise will keep shimmies for bait runners.
And If I get stuck taking an Abu apart The pit will have the answer
