Beneath the black water- Jon Berry

Post by David Vaissiere »

Picked up a copy of this book the other week and managed to sit and read it over the weekend, literally couldn't put it down it was that good.

It's a story of one man's obsession with fishing for Ferox trout in the Highland lochs of Scotland and the western loughs of Ireland.

One of my all time favourite fishing books and has certainly made me want to have a go for Ferox
Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that. YNWA

A nice guy is Jon and he writes a good story, not seen him for a long time now. He drove over from Wilts years back and we had a day's Perch fishing on a river local to me. As ever when you have guests, the fish did not play ball. But we put the world to rights and just chewed the fat.

He sold me one of his cane rods, that's still a favourite of mine.

Mister Monty,

I've not been called that for some time do we know each other? Yes Jon and Yates are Saints fans, many years ago on a Sunday, the Saints stayed up on the last day of the season. And Jon sent me a text photo of Yates on the pitch celebrating.

Just ordered one from Paul Morgan as well.. not sure how this one slipped under the radar as enjoyed Ron Greer's book on Ferox.
Might inspire me to actually try and catch one as I think our overseas trips are on hold for the foreseeable future.

You had better be careful guys, this Ferox fishing malarkey can very easily become an obsession which can then quickly lead to total madness, :narfuk: :narfuk: :narfuk: .
