Re: Little egrets
There quite common here in my part of Suffolk.
Our river is very shallow and they are often wading in it.
There is a small lake with lots of trees growing out of it, during the winter at dusk there could be getting on for six of
Them roosting in the branches of a tree out in the lake.
They look funny flying off with their yellowish feet dangling

Seen a few around here in the last few years. Think they nest on Budworth Mere, Northwich.

Re: Little egrets
not unusual to see as many little egrets (and big ones) as herons going up and down the Trent, one favourite roost has up to a dozen of them kipping in a dead tree hanging over the water, keep trying to get a pic but they fly off when I get close and slow the boat down

Common as muck, Danny. They nest on an island on Southport's marine lake.
I've seen a great white egret and a spoonbill on the marsh too.

Re: Little egrets
They mostly frequent the marshes round here, but they do come inland and up the rivers. They've really increased in numbers since I saw my first one on the river - nine years ago yesterday! They are certainly moving north.

I see a few of them in Kent.
But have never got nearer than a couple of hundred yards.

Common round these ear parts, they nest on the island on the big lake, seen 20 plus on there, been a resident species here for some time, often see them catching insects!

Infact there's a resident one that hangs about a puddle which is 10m away from the A75 and 6miles inland.Spotted a pair of these beautiful birds down by the river last night. Also a good couple of years ago there was a pair of mating spoonbills on the Dee estuary.
