Re: Worms online...

Due to the demise of my local(ish) tackle shop I'm now forced to buy online or drive an hour in the opposite direction to get lobs. Has anyone here ordered online before and what was the experience like? I've seen 4 retailers so far but one stands out in that you get 100 lobs for your £15 as oppose...

Thick as s***e this Minnow that thought it was Jaws, poor little sod hooked in the belly threw it back and a Jack had it for lunch.

Like Steve I've had a Dace before on small Cranks used for Chub, no photo though I'm afraid.

Re: Flight

One of my flukey shots. I like how there's an aeroplane just in the frame. That's not an airplane, as a child my nan used to point to the sky and say "Look you little bleeder, you see those marks in the sky, that's Father Christmas flying over and making sure your behaving before Christmas n...

Re: Some Cane and Floats

Lovely those Jason  I'll agree Mark they do look nice, but I got bored of Barbel fishing after a number of years. Plus the total infestation of Crayfish made bait fishing a royal ball ache for Pike and Perch also. I used to go to the tackle auctions at Chiswick but found it very elitist and...

Some Cane and Floats

I do enjoy using cane rods for my non-lure angling, but this little lot has not been used in anger for about five years. But I've only lure fished in that time but feel they do need an airing once the rivers open again. The problem is I find it incredibly hard to sit still now, as when lure fishing ...

Re: Vintage reel seats

When i started building my own rods it was Fuji Snaplocks all the way :madmick: How very modern! :laughs: Bloody handy for taking the reels off when carrying the rods in the old rollup holdalls :laughs: Still think these are the best reel seats for round Ambassadeurs....shame the rods are so heavy ...

Re: Never made it to production?

Looking back I suppose they were pioneering times. I did some prodding about the need for shallow running Dawgs and Invaders. So I guess I have played a tiny part - the Shallow Invader was being developed, I just kept nagging! A daft question and one that perhaps has no definitive answer, but if yo...

Re: (Vintage) Lure Porn

There's an interesting story behind the Creek Chub Vs Heddon patent litigation. Heddon wound up with joint patent rights, simply because they were a massive corporation, compared to Creek Chub at the time. To give an idea of just how big they were, at their height in the roaring 20's, Heddon owned ...

Each to their own. The quality of off-the-peg rods these days is much better than when I started piking. Even cheaper rods look and feel pretty good. I use a Drennan bait snatching float rod because it's good enough, and I couldn't find a two piece float blank for the same money as the fully built ...

Re: Death of Vic Beyer

I managed to chat with Vic and Dave Howes a few years back at Dave Steuart's book launch at The Lands End pub in Twyford. A friend knew them being a "Roach Head" himself. Vic and also Dave Howes and Dave Steuart came across as very unassuming guys. My friend the lucky sod had a ticket for the Longfo...

Not in the bag but in the tackle room, the wife picked up a dozen of these at a boot sale for fifty pence. These are two I could find, the others are in the room some place.

A must have for Chew surely?
