Hi all

Post by SomersetPiker »

Been fishing most my life, started when i was 8 when my grandfather showed me how to long trot for roach on the avon, I also did a little carp fishing in the late 70's and early 80's just before the carp boom, stopped course fishing when the wife and kids came along and those funny french things became popular! (poles).

I started fly fishing in my early 20's and fished Chew, Blagdon and the Barrows for the next 20 years with some match fishing thrown in from time to time, sold my fly outfits about 8 years ago when i moved down to East Huntspill in somerset, Tried some beach fishing for a while but after traveling light for so many years with the fly fishing it wasn't for me, the only constant throughout the years have been my lure rods.

I have always had at least one spinning rod and for many years during the summer would often pop down to cheddar reservoir and catch the odd pike on small spinners and plugs, so this year i decided to go all out for the pike, already had one light lure rod and a few lures but decided to upgrade.
I have just forked out for the savage gear big lure & jerk rod 7ft 150g, okuma komodo 350 baitcaster and the bft monster net, just need to add some more lures and jerkbaits, later in the year i will get a couple of dead bait rods reels but that will have to wait as the wife wants a holiday! lol
