Sadly I now know why Andy Frost isn't a top pike guide, had a good day anyway but left my best socks at his house.............

I've seen what he does with socks.

Well Nev , to cut a long story short , my brother and i had two boats booked for a ressy , think in 1991 on new years eve , we had a few xmas drinks with some mates and they wanted to come along , the one that came with me had done a bit of fishing , but never caught a pike . On the day it was blowing really badly and we headed to a sheltered deep spot i had caught fish from before , i set up two rods , both with livebaits and told him i would hit any runs and we would take turns in bringing them in ( obviously i was getting some sort of feel for the size before i handed him the rod

). We had four fish in the morning , i let him bring two jacks to the boat and i had two low doubles , after lunch he wanted to take a run and do it all himself , the weather was really bad and i just gave him the rod to hold , and within minutes the float dissapeared , i told him to wind down and he just reeled like a poof , within minutes to my horror this beast came up , i netted it and we went to the bank which was about 40 yards away , the fish went 35 lb 4 oz .

This fella has never caught a pike since , but obviously still goes on about it , but when i saw my brother this xmas he told me he spoke to him recently and it had grown now to 37 lb
