Re: Shipping fishing rods
Wouldn't trust any of them to safely deliver a fragile object. Had a 3.5 m blind delivered by one recently. Well packaged in.a stout cardboard tube but they'd managed to damage the tube and bend the blind.
Probably better packing in a plastic tube or collection only.
Worth asking DL how he sends his rods.

Search the Forum, as I swear there's about a dozen threads on this. No courier is 100% reliable and rods are obviously a problem, but some are better than others. I'd also recommend using a very robust rod tube, something you can drive a car over and it won't give, that sort of thing...

Re: Shipping fishing rods
The biggest problem is finding a service that will take long parcels if you don't have an account.
I no longer recommend any carriers.
As Mark says avoid Tufnells. TNT were another to avoid but I think they're part of FedEx now.
I had no problems with UPS for years but had a few over the last year. Have used APC a time or two recently (and in the past) and they've been OK so far. Parcelforce seem reasonably reliable too.

Funnily enough it was Tufnell that did my delivery. The seller replaced it without quibble & going on their comments it's not the first time they've had it happen.
Tufnells appear to have gone into liquidation at the start of June.

Poorly managed scheduling, depots an utter mess and shameful working practices. I wouldn't trust them to deliver a house brick intact. Always remember the time we got CCTV of a driver loading the lorry by chucking products like javelins. When approached by one the yard staff, he told them to feck off and mind their own business. Delivery arrived with over 40% damages, around 25 grand of goods, I had fun recovering that off them. I still have the video, should put it on YouTube. Their demise was never in doubt, you can't sustain a business model like that, combined with woeful service. I note Shift have bought them out, probably got them super cheap and will no doubt strip them bare if they have any sense.

Tufnells are gone so no worries there. I've just used Parcel Force to Uk mainland they are 34-95 now went up in April from 31-80. but have been good.
