Diving back into a freezing cold sleeping bag at 0200hrs once you'd sorted everything out, if one of your alarms had gone off. Those nights were like a badge of honour to the diehard Zedheads. (Young mans game )

Good times Dave! I remember old Alfie Green bringing me a flask of soup and a baked potato one winter's night. He was worried I would freeze to death!

Re: winter eeling.
Myself and a mate did two nights on a Scottish loch on a bloody cold November weekend a few years ago, when we got home I went straight to my syndi' and did another night on my own.
Bivvied up for 16+ hours is not something I'll be doing again any time soon.
Doing it for Eels requires a special kind of insanity

Respect to you, I often have marks on my baits on a local venue, that has a good head of Anguilla.. I might have to scale it down a little.. while Iโm targeting Pike

Just going through some of the posts and one mentioned a Scottish loch . May I remind everyone that it is illegal to fish for eels in Scotland and that they are protected up here

Re: winter eeling.
Just for the record I donโt agree with the rule on the eel fishing ban in Scotland, I am just stating the facts and the law up here.
Anyone caught fishing for eels on our reservoir would have their fishing wrights removed and be banned from fishing the reservoir.
Itโs not what we want to do but what weโre governed to do .
Sadly thatโs the rules
