I’m not planning on doing full night sessions for catfish this summer, and I know this will probably cost me a lot of fish, but was wondering for my day sessions if some of the experienced guys had found a definite preference in day conditions, ie ,wet n dull or dry n bright, for daytime runs,
And is it just dawn n dusk best for daytime sessions,
Thanks for any help all hopefully leading to my first uk cat

Hi wobbler i used to fish evening sessions 6pm until midnight, most runs came an hr or 2 into darkness. Nothing in freshwater will prepare you for that first run from a good size cat, good luck

Re: Best day conditions for catfish
Hi Wobbler
In my experience I have always found wet, dull and ideally muggy days best for day time cats.
Rainy days especially heavy rain, generally are my target days for cats. Not necessarily that it's the best conditions but it puts off a lot of angler's from fishing. With the lake being quiter, less pressure, less lines in the water etc generally means the cats will feed more positively during daylight hours.
Cats are sensitive to angling pressure.
Hope this helps and you land a biggie or 2
