By far the best is ‘The biggest fish of all’ by The Perchfishers.

The second hand prices are eye watering for that book, wish I had bought it when it came out.

They are selling for in excess of £200 Mike, which is somewhat more than I’d like to pay. I have shelled out a few times for a book that I’ve particularly wanted…. Who knows I might eventually succumb to temptation.

Thanks d roberts that’s the only willow pitch I don’t have. Not sure why I didn’t buy it when released, is there much technical content?

There being so many methods that will catch Perch I was wondering if you have any preferences? My go-to on rivers has always been the pat minnow, mind you I have never caught any really big fish doing it.
The 6,3 record came from Wilstone Reservoir on single maggot, caught by a specialist perch angler. Not a method you would think of as having the potential to catch a record?
Wilstone is a water I have fished many many times and never once have I even seen a Perch even when using bunches of lobworms for pike which was the go-to method. This Autumn I will be slow trotting with a bunch of small red worms for no other reason that my wormery has zillions.

Please keep us updated on your progress :handshake:

Just a thought... If you’re after an attractive book to browse, enjoy anecdotes on particular waters and gain an overview of the perch world, then, yes, Book of the Perch and Biggest Fish of All deserve their accolades (and I return to mine time and again for pleasure). If, however, you’re after precise expertise on reading your water and methods to target your fish, I get most inspiration from browsing here, on our Predator Forum and, as needbe, Anglers’ Net and carefully-selected Utube pieces. That might just be me though…

And… I find my Perch: Contemporary Days and Ways, by Roger Miller and John Bailey, very enjoyable to return to, too.

If the price is consistently high and you don't pay over the odds, you can always just read it and sell it on. I did that with the Perchfishers Book of the Perch. I paid over £100 for it, which may seem a bit steep, but after I'd read it I put it back on eBay and it went for about a tenner more than I paid for it.

That’s a cracking idea, however I always struggle to part with stuff I’ve collected. Not sure I trust myself 🤣

I’ve got that one and it has some good tales in it, but I would like something more up to date really

30 or so different anglers telling their story and approaches, some more technical than others. I’ve had the more recent perchfishers book ( managed to sell it on for £175) and the willow pitch is similar just on a smaller scale. Worth getting IMO.

Looks like there are others in the archive. How about this: Pike & Perch from 1900
