Perch are a weird fish when it comes to guessing the size of a big one, anyone else think so?
My pb is 2lb 8oz as well, looking at a photo of it now, same as Whiteys perch those fish look bigger than a lot of pictures of claimed 3-4lb perch.

Tench, barbel, carp all miles bigger than 30 years ago. Most of this will be the amount of bait going in - more calories = more growth.

I wonder if warmer winters also help most fish. We all know lakes that used to freeze most winters in the 80s, or earlier. Now they don't - or they don't freeze for long. Cos fish are cold-blooded, they won't move or eat much in cold water. So warmer winters mean more (opportunity for) growing months every year. Combined with extra bait = bigger fish.

Paging Nev - what do you reckon - could this be possible?
