Pike Pool 58 (John Costello)

Post by dart stew laws »

The reflective and informative John Costello takes us on what, as you will attain, the Severn has to offer in terms of Zander, This was an article that Pete Webster and Jase has had in the bank of 'pool' articles and thus their mitts are on it guv'nor
Enjoy John's article http://thepikepool.blogspot.com/2012/12 ... -john.html Done

cheers jason.

Good informative article john, enjoyed that Image your a lucky man having such fishing on your doorstep. Just wish i had zander a little closer too home, one day i will get round to it, but maybe its a good thing as i get distracted easily enough at the moment with the fishing thats available to me. (plus the floods would be a nightmare Image)

Brilliant read John.

Very different to how/when I fish, but I suspect that's half the fascination with Zander.....

All I can say is..... can we have a follow up article.....

A top read - thanks John and Co. I couldn't agree more about the attraction of lure fishing for them, in just the speed of covering water and the fact that they are so obliging to lures. Image

What a load of bullshit.... The mans a dillusional idiot....

I can catagorically state that there are NO BIG ZANDER in the river Severn and I would discourage anyone from wasting their time even contemplating fishing for them. Whilst I'm at it there are no big pike in the Wye, it's all a myth. Again, I would positivley discourage anyone from even contemplating having a go for them.....

And I can also say that there are no big barbel in the Severn either, particularly in that swim you saw me in last summer. Whenever I hear a small boat coming up or down the river I usually put drop-offs below the reels, a big bucket on the bank and pretend I'm zander fishing. Image Image

A nice piece JC, you make it sound so much easier than it really is.

I'll have to give the 'Barbel' style fishing a go real soon.
