One of scotlands finest

Wanted to catch one of these for a while finally set about it this year here’s my pb

Watching Jeremy Wade pull up rays in Thailand was enough to make me wince... Cracking capture well done.

Thanks stew nearly 2hrs of tug o war with the bugger you know when you had a good one done two trips this year and had 5 fish 58,82,152,178,200

I done a torn bicep (partial tear) back in 2012, the muscle although fully functional is in a weakened state, pulling up a deadweight for nigh on 2 hours would probably do my other one! I'm in admiration as a better man than me...

That's a magnificent looking beast! :thumbs:

I think it was Bill Little who once described Skate fishing to me as being like trying to haul a garage door off the sea bed, that's fighting back!

It’s exhausting all you want to do is pump it up and all she wanted to do is stick to the bottom the first 20 minutes you might as well just sit down because you think you’re gaining line but all you’re doing is stretching 500ft of mono😂

John that’s basically true that fish was the last of the day after 8 hrs a float when your an hour in and think you’re getting some where they just dive down and strip the reel taking everything you gained and then some

Think I’m going to make it a yearly pilgrimage
and the ones over 100lb are mostly female

Excellent stuff. I fished for them on Ronnie Campbells boat out of Oban. A great experience. 👍🏻

That’s the one Laura dawn 2 it’s now skippered by Lee Taylor but Ronnie still owns the boat

It’s a belter as well it’s hard to explain to people who haven’t done it how easy but hard it is at the same time and as we said basically on our doorstep 200lb fish
