Re: 70
30s are like hens teeth along this bit of river and I have still never caught one.
It was one of those occasions when the fish just got bigger and bigger, firstly I was happy it wasn't a bream that I had hooked, then as I realised the weight I was happy that it felt like a lump, then after seeing the fish I thought it may be that elusive 30, then after netting the fish I new it was a 30, then after trying to lift the fish into the boat I thought what was the net caught on? and after seeing the fish on the mat I thought could it be a 40 but instantly thought "dont be silly!" then after using a tripod and RH scales it settled at 43lb 12oz
Cheers, Alan

You're holding it out
Seriously though, nice one! A river carp like that is exceptional. If you've seen Terry Hearns quest on the Thames on his boat and the hours he put in, a result like that is an anomaly

A very large common was seen a few years ago but I think this quite young looking fish has turned up as a result of the near record floods but either way, just wow!

That's a great carp from anywhere at anytime, but from a boat on a river?

Are marinas set back off the main channel exempt?
I'm sure I was allowed to fish a marina on the Ure years ago when it was DT

I think the marina has to be set back via a cut/channel from the main river.Bob Watson wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16 2024 17:42 -I can fish this marina 365 but there are specifics as to the geography of marinas to do this legally. Are marinas set back off the main channel exempt?

Like this!
If it's just an open cut in the bank it's classed as part of the main channel and falls into close season territory!

With the size of the cats in the Ebro these days I'm amazed that there are any carp left of any description! Check out what the one in the vid below tried to eat

The common is the natural form and when left alone to breed in places such as the Ebro, mirrors become a rarity.
