Tench fail

Post by Bob Watson »

Just had a couple of days on the syndi' after Tench which failed to show but the Roach came thick and fast.

After fishing for them for my last few sessions and only having a couple I decided to put the Roach gear away and try for the Tench. Inline feeders, 10lb fluro' hooklink to size 12 drennan wide gape specimens with, at first, a rubber buoyant maggot aligner style and 4 real reds. Getting hits straight away but no hook ups, I took the rubber maggots off and hit every bite afterwards

Loads of fish with two going 1lb on the nose and 1lb 1oz, 15oz short of my target but non below 12ish oz.

I could have scaled down and I'm sure I'd have got more but there's a chance a big Carp could show up and I wanted to hedge my bets.

Absolute belter of a roach session and just fished for them instead

Currently catching loads of tench form one of my waters - had more than I've had in all previous years. I'd love to catch roach like that- just a memory after the cormorants

I'm going Tench fishing again tomorrow but this time for the Roach, with a bit more finesse.

I reckon the Tench will succumb to my Roach rigs and it isn't even a deliberate ploy

To be honest Andrew, I really don't care about blanking. I recently got unlimited data on my phone, I'm quite happy enjoying a nice malt and watching the footy or a film on my phone. I've just recently got some enthusiasm back and I'm loving being in the bivvy on a weekend

This roach session turned into an eel session, you couldn't make it up!
