Fox FX Super Deluxe Recliner & Carp Porter Big Boy Transporter Barrow

Post by David.F.Scobie »

Ok where to start, Barrow I used to have a Daiwa Infinity Barrow that I used to move the kit from car park to swim it began to slowly fall apart on me I can’t complain for the price I paid for it and the length of time I owned it I was generally happy with it but I felt it was time to replace it. I looked at some of the more industrial looking ones like the Juggernaught and the Carp Porter stuff what did it for me was the tyres I figured three wheels means pushing instead of lifting and pushing so ended up with the Big Boy Transporter three wheeled tank of a barrow. It weights 29.5kgs so it is a tank of a barrow that's built to last.

I was very impressed with it since its arrival I've loaded up gear and set off without any real issues on solid ground like a pavement it judders a bit but that's because of the tractor tyres on it so I don’t mind this on soft ground it’s a great bit of kit, it was christened with a 3 night trip when I first picked it up, in one trip all the fishing gear the food, water and bivvy was moved effortlessly to where I wanted to fish for the weekend. I fished your standard Lough in the Fermanagh area there's no crisp gravel paths or custom built swims here it’s a journey through a farmer’s field navigating bog and cattle to get to the Lough the rods went in the bivvy went up and the weekender began normally at this point with the old barrow would have got bogged down a few times or randomly fell over on its side resulting in much swearing and a failing sense of humour. Since then I've given the barrow what id class a proper field testing I've not had to use any of the spares kit that came supplied with the barrow I've not even so much as had to add additional air to the tyres its coped with the abuse I've gave it. one thing I would recommend is getting the barrow bag thingy that attached to the base of the barrow and the water carriers that clip onto the side over the front wheel apart from that it’s well worth the money.

Mine is the plane green one not the new flash trendy camo colour. But all the technical info and stuff is below.

The new chair I used to have a JRC chair (still actually have this chair its now my woman’s chair when she comes fishing with me) it was low to the ground and with my buggered knees getting up out of it was causing me issues so I started looking through the tinternet for ideas and seen the Fox FX Super Deluxe Recliner from my research on line I found that there was few negative things said about this chair in fact the only negative I could find tended to be more fan boys who favoured other fishing manufactures makes of gear and by default anything that wasn’t their chosen brand of gear was off the bat dismissed as rubbish.

Speaking to my local fishing tackle shop Fishing Tackle and Bait in Enniskillen (cracking shop staffed with anglers for anglers if you are in the area call in https://www.fishingtackleandbait.co.uk/ ) they ordered me one of the chairs in so I could see it firsthand 20 mins later cash was handed over and away I went with new chair. Again as with the barrow I fish wild areas so the kit needs to stand up to the weather and the abuse it gets on a session. I've had it a few years now and I can’t find fault the arms have this neoprene sleeve thing that can be removed for cleaning the material is excellent quality the chair is comfortable I've lost count of the occasions I dozed off sleeping in it on a session the legs are easily adjusted and mud feet are rock solid things that have a bivvy peg sized hole in them so the chair can be anchored down oh and its designed for fat people so as someone who isn’t afraid of supersizing the old burger king meals it is just the job for me.

Again this is the standard model not the later new trendy camo one not quite sure what difference the camo makes to the chair but for you trendy types camo is available.

My mate has just bought the same barrow after having a hip replacement and I had a push of it fully loaded with a weekends worth of gear. As you say Scobes, effortless and it's next on my shopping list.
