Ok the basic measurements of the sling are Length 124cm (or a bawhair under 50”) 75cm or 30” deep and 39cm or 15ish” wide so there's ample room for even the biggest Pike out there, yes I know it isnt specifically designed for Pike it's something from the Fox Carp range but off the bat I have to say just because it's for Carp angling doesn't make it useless for Pike and because it's got the Fox name tag on it that shouldn’t write the thing off. looking at it and using it over the last couple of seasons I've been impressed with it.
The zips are good though I did amend them by adding a large split ring to them so I can fit a finger into them to zip them open or closed on a cold day fiddling about with a small zip in freezing cold water wasn’t much fun so the big split rings were added and this helped me open and close the thing. It's got its own stink bag there's a length of para cord with an attachment that screws into a bank stick so you can anchor the bank stick into the margins and the flotation sling can do it's thing.
I will state that any Pike I put in it are only retained for a short period of time usually as long as it takes me to set up photo equipment or the more recent time I used it was for removing muppet traces from a pike and having to rest her in the margins to then give removing the traces another attempt on that occasion I had to break out the cutters and just snip through the hooks to get as much of the trace out of the Pikes throat, when I'm doing that sort of thing I like to make sure the fish is well rested so it is strong enough to swim off.
There's a small clip on the top of the sling that you can connect the two split rings to so when the Pike is being retained it isn’t going to escape and the mesh the thing is made from is quick drying.
That’s all the things I find positive about the sling I have to be honest for what I paid for it (£30 of eBay) it's about right for the thing the colour scheme doesn't really matter I'm sure there's some folk out there who scorn at those anglers with realtree everything the last time I was fishing with my favourite tackle tart apparently camo is out this years must have is “Carpy green” good news for the tarts among us these slings are available in green.
The Nash Tripod, what can I say about this it's a tripod it helps me weigh fish it can hold up to 200lbs apparently it's a heavy bugger weighing in at 6kg but for the angler who fishes by himself it's a valuable tool you can get an adapter for your go pro that screws into the holes on the top of the tripod so you can film your catch being weighed or attach lights to light up photos. The RRP of them is £59.99 but as usual eBay has some bargains and if you shop around you'll find it cheaper I got mine off the same guy I got the fox retaining sling from the fella had bought them for a France trip only to go there and find the fishery insisted they use their nets slings etc etc, when they arrived they were still in original boxes and I couldn’t tell if either of them had been used.
