Most sheep are bred for eating these days somewhere down the line, apart from hobby flocks and pets. Although hill sheep are often kept to breed crossbred ewes which go down the hill to better ground to produce lambs direct to market. Google 'stratified sheep system'.

Way back when wool was worth lots the longwools were bred, now that wool's worth feck all there are sheep being bred that shed their wool and don't need clipping. Texels and Beltex are pug ugly, Eurosheep that have a lot of muscle (meat).

There's a lot to this sheep farming lark!

No control and not a clue about the countryside. Some time back some moron posted a 'dog cam' video of his dog running around out of his sight and chasing sheep all over the place. He thought it was funny.

I know one sheep man who shoots first and asks questions second. He says that once the dog's had a taste of blood it'll only want more. But I have also seen tales on SM of farmers losing their guns for shooting dogs, or even threatening to.

I have edited my post Dave, I believed that a farmer had every right to shoot any dog that is worrying his stock, maybe I am wrong but, I find it hard to believe that under those circumstances a gun licence would be revoked or guns confiscated.
