Brian have you not considered just using your phone with some form of adjustable holder and one of the apps that allows you to do self takes
I made this little plunger type thing for my bluetooth phone remote, acts the same as a bulb release. Just a sheet of thin ally cut to shape.

I like that idea mark, you should market that. I’m heading into my workshop to knock a couple up!
You can make the same sort of thing for cable remotes too.....just tape the plastic remote to the plunger and use like a bulb release. Works a treat
I made something similar for a remote release. It smashed the release to bits when I put my foot on it! :laughs: Hence my joy at finding the Rhino Release.
Thats why i operate mine between my knees :laughs: ....also dont have to worry about the remote sinking in soft ground and not firing the camera
Taken on my bridge camera last year using the same sort of release, both bluetooth and bridge cam remotes still intact and working perfectly

I'm feeling very out dated by the camera recommendations here. Still using my G6 for self takes. If I'm just lying the fish on the sling for a shot without me in it I just use my phone.

I'll probably change it when the camera battery eventually gives up.

Probably. But there are off-brand ones that are a lot cheaper than the branded ones wand usually work well (unless the camera manufacturer puts a chip in theirs so knock-offs don't work - which happened with my latest camera  ).

Thanks for the heads up. That might save me a few quid and the hassle of learning the interface for another camera. The G6 has done me proud and owes me nowt.

My photography is terrible Bri, even using point & shoot digital camera's I couldn't hit the spot. My mate put me onto an 'iFish' phone photography kit which back in 2019 cost about £12 and consisted of Bluetooth trigger, Phone vice which screws into bank stick and additional lighting/lenses etc. Here's the first photo I took with it all, much improved from the crap I was getting from normal camera's:

The kit can be found here mate:

Thanks Dave, i will have a look see,i do us whistle cam on my phone with some half decent results
No worries Bri, I hope you & yours are all well mate.

I'm feeling very out dated by the camera recommendations here. Still using my G6 for self takes. If I'm just lying the fish on the sling for a shot without me in it I just use my phone.
Same here still using the Cannon G6 with flip screen and detachable remote.
Good to see you posting again Mick. Long time...

Always quietly confident.
