Unusual to find these birds so close to a road, but there was a small field with a lot of both in it today. The ground must be soft enough for them to probe it, and with pelnty for them to find. It has sheep on for most of the year so well dunged.
Crappy photos as I was ill equipped so large crops. (One lapwing in there too.

Ever since this as a kid Curlews are one of my favorites.
I love hearing their cry over the marshes here in winter or up on the moors in spring.
